Sewing class sessions are based on six (6) hours of instruction; scheduled one (1) hour per week for six (6) weeks, 1-1/2 hours per week for four (4) weeks, or two (2) hours every other week for three (3) sessions. We begin by teaching first-time students the basics. 

The first class is used to introduce students to the sewing machine. They are shown how to thread the machine and instructed on the use of sewing room tools, such as scissors, sewing gauges, etc.  This includes instruction and encouragement on safety and classroom protocols, as well.  They will actually get to use a sewing machine the first class by completing a small project to take home. Students will be given a pattern with a list of supplies to bring to next class (second class) to begin their project.

By working on and completing this project, students will begin to learn how to read and interpret a pattern, learn about seam allowances, grain lines, selvage edges…just to name a few.  As it is our goal to complete a project in the six weeks allotted, every student works at a different pace.

SIX-HOUR SESSION

Six-hour session - We are continuing our sale at the six-hour fee of $99.00 (no registration fee) + applicable WV sales tax.  We accept cash, check, money order and PayPal. This is due prior to first class along with registration forms.

The fee for the six-hour session does not include fabric, thread or notions. Instruction will be given at first class on how to determine what fabric and how much yardage to buy, as well as the thread.

If a student is unable to complete 6-hour session, we request a Withdrawal Form to be completed. No refunds are given after third class. 

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS

If the six-hour option is not for you, we can schedule as many hours as you would like. There are no minimums on the hours you wish to take. However, they will be charged at a rate of $17 per hour, plus applicable WV sales tax.

These classes will not offer a pattern and do not include fabric, thread, or notions.  They will be specifically tailored to fit your needs; such as help with a existing pattern or project, refreshing your sewing skills....even learning how to hem a garment.  

This option is not recommended for beginners.    

The total will be due prior to first class along with registration forms.
